杜金华，副教授，分别于1999年、2004年于西安理工大学获得学士、硕士学位，2008年于中国科学院自动化研究所获得博士学位，2008年至2010年11月在爱尔兰都柏林城市大学下一代本地化国家研究中心做博士后研究。现任教于西安理工大学自动化与信息工程学院。

Jinhua Du, associate professor in Xi'an University of Technology (XAUT), received his B.E. and M.E. degrees in 1999 and 2004 respectively from XAUT, and achieved his Ph.D in 2008 from Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was a postdoctoral researcher in Centre for Next Generalisation in Ireland from 2008 and 2010.

出身自动控制背景，后转入自然语言处理领域。近年来主要从事统计机器翻译研究。

研究兴趣广泛，主要有：

  • 统计机器翻译；
  • 机器学习与人工智能；
  • 信息检索；
  • 语音识别；
  • 控制理论与控制工程

My research focuses on Statistical Machine Translation (SMT), but my research interests are so comprehensive that the following topics are also my favourites:

¤ ASR & SLT

¤ Machine Learning (ML)

¤ Control Theory & Control Engineering

    • We got our project "Research on computer-aided statistical machine translation with error self-recognition and self-correction functionalities" approved by National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 61100085). (update: 25/08/2011) 
    • We achieved the 3rd position in terms of Microsoft Woodpecker Metric, 6th place in terms of BLEU-SBP Metric for the Chinese-to-English News translation task, and 4th position in terms of BLEU5-SBP Metric for the English-to-Chinese Science Translation task in the Evaluation Campaign of The 7th China Workshop on Machine Translation, CWMT’2011 (http://mt.xmu.edu.cn/cwmt2011/). 
    • I had a paper accepted for publication in the the International Conference on Asian Language Processing (IALP) 2011 at Penang, Malaysia on Nov 15-17, 2011. The paper is "Character-level System Combination: an empirical study for English-to-Chinese Spoken Language Translation". 
    • I'm the reviewer of the Machine Translation Marathon 2011 , which will be held from 5-10 September 2011 in Trento, Italy (Update: 22/07/2011)
    • I'm a PC member of the Third Joint EM+/CNGL Workshop “Bringing MT to the User: Research Meets Translators”, which will be held at Directorate-General for Translation, Luxembourg on 14th October 2011(Update: 07/07/2011)

    • I've had a paper accepted for publication in the Fifth Workshop on Syntax, Semantics and Structure in Statistical Translation (SSST-5) which will be jointly held with HLT-ACL 2011 at Portland, Oregon, USA on 23 June 2011. The paper named " Incorporating Source-Language Paraphrases into Phrase-Based SMT with Confusion Networks" was a joint work with Prof. Andy Way and Dr. Jie Jiang of Dubin City University.
